Recreational Paddling
A recreational program that welcomes the community, islanders and tourists during non-pandemic times. Our recreational paddlers range from novice paddlers to experienced, regular or even the occasional paddler. Come learn about the paddling heritage and Hawaiian cultural knowledge. We have something for everyone!
Hui Wa’a Racers
A competitive Summer paddling season, beginning with a Preseason, which consists of races averaging roughly 6 miles in distance, and ending with a Regatta Season, where distances can range between ¼ mile to 1 ½ miles. Divisions range from 12-and-under to 70-and-over, featuring male, female, and co-ed crews, with the top qualifying crews representing our Hui at the Hawaii Canoe Racing Association State Championship, where the fastest crews from each Island gather to race at the conclusion of the season.
Na ‘Opio
A Youth Winter Regatta Season for paddlers from Elementary to High School. During the Nā ʻOpio Season, students are given the opportunity to race on both, six-man and single-man canoes, and also have the opportunity to hold a position on the Nā ʻOpio Youth Board of Directors, learning valuable skills that enable their growth and understanding.
